The Arena da Amazônia in Manaus will be the venue for six matches at the 2016 Olympic Games.

The decision was made official last night as Olympic organisers have decided to spread the football games to other areas across the country. The other cities set to host matches are Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and obviously Rio De Janeiro.

Manaus was a host during last year’s FIFA World Cup. The city hosted four games including Italy v England. There were concerns regarding the heat in the city which may well be raised again.

Manaus will host four men’s games as well as two women’s games.
