David Luiz was captain for Brazil against Mexico yesterday in the absence of Neymar and was satisfied with the 2-0 victory in Brazil’s first friendly before the Copa America.

The game was Brazil’s first on home soil since the disastrous end to their World Cup campaign last year. Luiz was heavily criticised for his defending in the 7-1 defeat against Germany and was happy that this match went more smoothly.

“There was a bit of anxiety, I had a little nostalgia to play again in Brazil. Football gives you such opportunities, allows you to come back. It was good to come home and get a good win by controlling the game. I feel good, Dunga gave me the opportunity to play, I think it went well.”
