Beşiktaş are ready to target Roma-owned midfielder Marquinho, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Spor Toto Süper Lig outfit want to sign Marquinho in a double deal involving Italy international defender Davide Astori, who is on loan at Roma from Cagliari.

Marquinho is currently himself playing on loan with Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Professional League. He joined them in July 2014 for a reported fee of €1 million and will return to Roma at the end of May, when that deal concludes.

During his time in Saudi Arabia, Marquinho has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 24 appearances, to help Al-Ittihad to 4th in the standings.

The Jeddah-based club may be keen to pursue a permanent deal for the 28 year-old, but Beşiktaş’ reported interest would likely hamper their chances.

Marquinho has been in Europe since Roma signed him from Fluminense for around €3.5 million in July 2012, after a successful loan spell.

With Roma, he’s made 56 appearances, scoring seven times, while last season he was loaned to Hellas Verona and contributed two goals in 15 matches.

Roma are unlikely to want to keep him once he returns to the club, though how much they would want to sell him on, remains unclear.
