São Paulo striker Alan Kardec began his rehabilitation this week at the club’s training centre, but is not expected to be back playing until at least October, following the injury he sustained during the Tricolor’s Copa Libertadores match with San Lorenzo at the beginning of April.

But the former Benfica player is trying to remain positive, despite the grave situation he finds himself in.

“I see it naturally,” he told the club’s official website. “It has happened to me and to others. I know this is the first step in my recovery. Gradually, soon, I will do strength work. And if all goes as expected, in a few months I’ll be back. I talked to players who have gone through this and then won everything in their career. They gave me support and, of course, I am motivated to face this challenge.”
