Midfielder Lucas Silva could be handed his Real Madrid debut when they host Deportivo on Saturday.

The 21 year-old was signed from Cruzeiro for a reported fee of €13 million in January, but is yet to feature for Los Blancos.

He wasn’t included in the squads that faced Córdoba (2-1 win) and Real Sociedad (4-1 win), while he’s been an unused substitute in Real’s two most recent fixtures – a 2-1 win over Sevilla and Saturday’s 4-0 defeat away to city rivals Atlético de Madrid.

AS, as cited by website Football Espana, claims that part of the reason that manager Carlo Ancelotti has so far overlooked Lucas is due to his arrival being sanctioned by the club, rather than him.

The report suggests the deal was concluded in January due to potential complications over third party ownership, which is set to be outlawed by FIFA in May.

Since Lucas’ arrival at Real, Ancelotti has preferred to use Isco and Sami Khedira as understudies to the injured Luka Modrić and James Rodríguez, while Asier Illarramendi also seems to be ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

Despite this however, AS believes Lucas may finally get his chance when Deportivo visit Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
