Arsenal signed Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal for £15 million and he was on the bench against Aston Villa.
A report in the Mirror analyzed if Arsenal’s new man is eligible for a work permit in England. Gabriel actually fails the guidelines set down by the Football Association on work permits. For clearance, he needs to play for a country ranked in the top 75 in the world, which he does because he’s Brazilian, but he should play 75% of the games for his country during the past two years, which he hasn’t done.
According to previous evidence regarding similar players, it is because Brazil are accepted to have ‘a deeper talent pool’ in football than other countries. Aged 24, Gabriel is yet to wear Brazil’s shirt and has no Champions League experience.
