Sivasspor coach Roberto Carlos has revealed that it was Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho who urged him to become a manager.

The legendary former Brazil left-back became the assistant as Russian side Anzhi before taking over as head coach of the Turkish side last year.

The World Cup winner said that the Chelsea coach, who has also managed the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto, told him to think seriously about becoming a manager prior to him taking over Sivasspor.

He told ESPN: ‘Beofre I started, I listened to Zico, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Jose Mourinho about what they had to say.

‘Mourinho said that taking into account my playing career, I should be thinking about more than just assisting. He said that should not be my main goal and that I should think seriously about becoming a head coach.’

Mourinho re-joined Chelsea in the summer of 2013 and his side are currently top of the Premier League.
