PSV are attempting to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to the signature of Corinthians teenager Matheus, according to reports.

Football Oranje claims that the Eindhoven-based club are set to offer a trial to the 16 year-old over the next fortnight.

Matheus – full name Matheus Pereira da Silva – is considered to be one of Corinthians’ most talented prospects and caught the eye of PSV scouts at last year’s Canon Lion City Cup, which is held in Singapore.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also believed to be in the hunt for the playmaker, but Football Oranje suggests Matheus prefers a move to PSV, where he is likely to be fast tracked into the first-team and will not have to worry about work permit issues.

If Matheus impresses PSV staff at the proposed trial, the club will look to bring him in straight away, though if a European passport cannot be obtained, then they will have to wait until he is 18 years-old.
