Brazil manager Dunga believes Neymar needs to be motivated to perform to his best and has likened the Barcelona forward to the legendary Romario.

Dunga played with Romario various times during his career and sees similarities between the current star of Brazilian football and retired Romario.

The Brazil head coach spoke to Fox Sports recently and described the 22-year-old as the “benchmark” in Brazil.

“Neymar is a technical leader,” said Dunga.

“He is a benchmark in Brazilian and world football.

“It is logical that he likes to compete and he likes to win. He is a player who has to be demanded and motivated at all times – he likes that, to be challenged and provoked.

“He is similar in that way to Romario. You need to motivate the player.”

Neymar scored the only goal in Dunga’s first match in charge of the national team, in his second spell as boss, and he’ll hope the Barcelona man can continue his stunning international form for years to come.
