The World Cup hosts" final group game, in Brasília on Monday, is against a Cameroon side that appear to have pushed the self-destruct button.

The ‘Indomitable Lions" arrived late to this competition after bickering over bonuses and, following a 1-0 loss to Mexico and a 4-0 thrashing from Croatia in Manaus, the spirit in the Cameroon camp is very low.

Worse than those defeats is the indiscipline that coach Volker Finke has to deal with in the coming days.

He has lost Alex Song for the Brazil game, after the former Arsenal player threw an elbow at Mario Mandzukic in Wednesday"s loss.

The biggest low point for Cameroon, however, was Benoit Assou-Ekotto putting his head to teammate Benjamin Moukandjo, as tempers frayed in the Amazon.

Finke told the media: “It"s clear we have to find the reasons [for] what"s going on because such behaviour is really disgusting, it won"t do, it"s impossible.

“We have to sleep and do an analysis and then we can announce something. There will be consequences stemming from this."

Luiz Felipe Scolari"s side should now be looking forward to a last group match against opponents who have been eliminated and appear ready to make their exit.
