Brazilian legend Pele had to miss the first half of his country’s game with Mexico last night after getting stuck in Sao Paulo traffic on his way to watch their second group match.

The three-time World Cup winner, 73, told reporters at GloboTV that : “For the first time I had to listen to the first half of a Brazil game inside a car; we were stuck in traffic.”

“It was an incredible pain. I thought ‘Oh my God, how did we get stuck in this traffic?’. We just had to sit there.”

Pele at the very least didn’t miss any goals from his travel nightmare, after Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa pulle off a World Cup performance of the highest order in denying Brazil a breakthrough.
