FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke has promised fans travelling to Brazil for next month’s World Cup that they “can expect a great tournament.”

The 53 year-old believes Brazil is a unique country and hopes those who attend the World Cup will have a memorable experience.

“They can expect a great tournament,” he told FIFA.com. “That’s what we are working on. And they can expect Brazil, which is an amazing country. A country which is about music, Samba and a number of things which make Brazil unique in the world.”

Valcke also notes that Brazil is very different to South Africa – where the World Cup was last held – and instructs fans to ensure they are well prepared to deal with the size of the country.

“My advice to the fans is to prepare their trip, to avoid making decision at the last minute,” he continued. “The teams are going around the country, and there is a big difference between Brazil and South Africa: the country is big. Organise your trip, make sure you have already decided where you will go.”
