Barcelona head coach Gerardo Martino has called on supporters of the Catalan side to cheer them on to the La Liga crown when they host Atletico Madrid in a winner-takes-all showdown at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

“Results leave our team with the possibility of being champions,” he told Goal, “ultimately it was not a brilliant season for us, but with the support of the fans we can win the championship.”

The match, which will kick off at 1800hrs local time, will be one of the most eagerly-anticipated games of recent times, with the vistors seeking a first league success since 1996 and the hosts looking to salvage something of a disappointing campaign.

And there will be numerous Brazilian players on show to boot; rumours persist that it could be Dani Alves’ last game before heading off to another club, potentially PSG, although Brazilian forward Neymar is not expected to recover from a muscle injury in time.

Atletico Madrid will most probably pick defenders Miranda and Filipe Luis, who both missed out on World Cup selection earlier this week, as well as midfielder Diego Ribas and Brazil-born striker Diego Costa.
