New Botafogo signing Carlos Alberto has shrugged off queries about his temperament and declared that he has grown with age, in a first news conference at his new club.
The former Porto and Werder Bremen attacking midfielder, 29, told Lance that a return to Botafogo, for whom he briefly played on loan in 2008, was the right career choice for him.
The five-times capped Brazilian said: “I have two kids and I’m maturing. I have strengths and weaknesses like everyone else.”
Alberto also spoke of his happiness at linking up with striker Emerson Sheik, who has also recently joined the club: “He is a friend. He’s a player that everyone needs when things are bad. Emerson is sensational.”
The pair will hope to revive a tricky start to the 2014 campaign, whereby Botafogo went out at the group stages of the Copa Libertadores.
