Brazilian national champions Cruzeiro showed the kind of performance that made 2013 so successful for them in an impressive demolition job against Peruvian side Real Garcilaso in Group 5 of the Copa Libertadores last night.

The game was wrapped up by half time and sees Cruzeiro squeak through to the next stage of the tournament at the expense of Universidad de Chile; both sides finished on ten points but the Brazilian team had a better goals record.

The side from Belo Horizonte went into half-time with the three goal cushion that they would finish the game with after goals from Ricardo Goulart, Bruno Rodrigo and Julio Baptista to leave them a point behing group winners Defensor Sporting.

And Cruzeiro can make it a week to remember on Sunday as they take on current Libertadores champions Atletico Mineiro for the right to win the Mineiro state championship for the 37th time.
