Paulinho has admitted it was hard to see André Villas-Boas leave Tottenham Hotspur, after the Portuguese manager had signed him but insists he will show Tim Sherwood he "means business" between now and the end of the season.
The Brazilian first team regular has endured a mixed season in London after initially appearing to settle in well.
The departure of Villas-Boas has impacted his recent struggles as have injuries sustained throughout the campaign.
Paulinho spoke exclusively with the Guardian this week and revealed that the situation this season is one he is familiar with – listening 2010 with Corinthians as an example.
The Spurs midfielder said: “It was hard to see André go. He was the guy who asked the club to sign me, so you have to be disappointed when that happens.
“Having said that, this is not a new situation in my life.
"It happened to me in Brazil at Corinthians, when the manager who had got me in the first team [Mano Menezes] left in 2010.
"The manager changes and you just have to make sure you show the [new] guy you mean business."
With six matches remaining in the Premier League and Paulinho confirmed as fit for Tottenham’s Monday night clash with Sunderland, the Seleção star will hope to end a mixed campaign in fine form.
