Fluminense may have to rely on sourcing their own players, at least financially, for the immediate future after it emerged that main sponsors Unimed will not fund any more aquisitions to the Rio de Janeiro based outfit.

As reported on Lancenet, Unimed chief Celso Barros told journalists: “The club must now walk on their own feet. We will not invest or bring in any reinforcements. I hope the club can do this and win titles.”

Barros went on to say that the future of any sponsorship between the two parties is in the balance- a worrying statement to fans of the club tht have been so successful in the past few years, particularly in the domestic league where they have won two titles in a short space of time.
