Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís has compared team-mate Diego Costa to Manchester City forward Sergio Agüero.
Costa netted the only goal as Atlético defeated Espanyol on Saturday to ensure Diego Simeone’s side remain in touch with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
The strike was Costa’s 22nd of the season and Filipe has been quick to underline how vital he is to Atlético, whilst also suggesting there are similarities between the 25 year-old and former Vicente Calderón favourite Agüero.
“Every time we seem to get stuck, Diego proves to be decisive,” he told Marca.
“He always manages to create chances from nothing. I hope he can continue to do the same as if he does he’s in for a fantastic career.
“Sometimes his game reminds me of Kun Agüero.
“La Liga is still a competition for just two clubs, although we are trying to do something really great. If we hadn’t won against Espanyol, we’d be 6 points off.”
