Palmeiras are trying to draw up a deal which would see striker Alan Kardec remain with the club, as his current loan deal is due to end on June 30th.

The forward on loan from Benfica has been a huge hit with Palmeiras and currently has a record of 19 goals in 38 matches, a average of one goal every two games which is better compared to his strike rate at other clubs.

Kardec has featured for Vasco da Gama, Santos and Benfica amogst others but hasn’t enjoyed the success that he has had at the Allianz Parque.

Lance believe that Palmeiras will try to reach an agreement with Kardec’s Portuguese club and are likely to bid €4 million for the 25-year-old’s services.

Palmeiras head coach Gilson Kleina has been speaking with Brazilian newspaper Lance and praised the attacker.

Kleina said: “He has appeal outside the area, he has three roles in attack and is very versatile. If the call comes (for him to play for Brazil), I will be very happy.”

Speculation is building that Kardec may earn a spot in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad for the friendly against South Africa.

What seems certain is that Palmeiras will do all they can to keep Kardec at the club and also that if the Benfica loanee continues to shine, Scolari won’t be able to ignore him forever.
