Manchester City’s pursuit of Porto midfielder Fernando is still alive, according to reports on goal.com, as they seek further depth to their squad on the final day of the transfer window.

Having been left out of his side’s squad to play Maritimo at the weekend, speculation is gathering momentum that the Brazilan will be heading for Manchester at some point this evening. City have been linked with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala as well, although the Frenchman has been named in the squad for Saturday’s match.

Fernando has only six months left on his contract at the Dragao and has previously been the subject of heavy transfer talk linking him with moves to both Everton and Liverpool. In fact, the former had agreed a deal in the summer of 2013 with Fernando but work permit problems held up the deal.
