Pelé talks about the partnership with the airline company

The airline company Emirates, an official partner of FIFA, announced on Thursday that Pelé will become an ambassador of the Dubai-based group.

As part of the agreement, the company and the three-time World Cup winner will travel to numerous functions together over the coming months.

“Emirates is one of the most important brands in world sport,” said the 73-year-old at a news conference in Dubai.

“Pelé is a globally recognised icon who is respected and is an inspiration for everyone around the world. He represents the best values of football, not only because he was a great player but because he used his power to connect people – one to another and communities to opportunities. In many ways, Pelé represents the same values that Emirates have. He was the ideal choice to be global ambassador and we’re really happy with the partnership,” said Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, senior vice-president of Emirates’ Commercial Operations department.
