Former Atlético Mineiro attacker Ronaldinho is close to being announced as a Beşiktaş player according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to the Istanbul side over the past few months as it became clear he would not be renewing his contract with Galo automatically.

His contract with the Copa Libertadores champions ran out on December 31st and he is now close to signing with the Süper Lig club on a free transfer.

According to the Dutch publication, Ronaldinho will sign a contract which will run until the summer of 2016 and he will receive between €10-15.

The Brazilian played a pivotal part in Atlético Mineiro’s Libertadores success, scoring four times in 14 appearances but failed to perform consistently for Galo afterwards.

Ronaldinho will hope a move to Turkey can strengthen his chances of making Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad. He last appeared for Seleção in February 2013 but was substituted at half time after missing a penalty during a 2-1 loss to England.

The legendary playmaker will link up with fellow Brazilian Ramon Motta, on loan from Corinthians, at Beşiktaş and will aim to inspire them to Champions League qualification.
