FIFA President Sepp Blatter has criticised Brazil’s preparation for the 2014 World Cup and admitted he is surprised by how far behind they are.
In an interview he gave with Swiss newspaper 24 heures, the often talked about president stated that Brazil are the latest in their preparations since he has been president of FIFA.
Brazil have faced numerous problems since they were awarded the 2014 World Cup and several stadiums are yet to be completed. Some in particular are only likely to be ready just months before the competition is due to start.
Blatter has showed his disdain at the poor preparation, especially considering Brazil have had seven years to prepare.
“And yet it is the only one who has had so long to prepare.”
The FIFA president has also briefly talked about the possibility of protests occurring again, like they did during the Confederation Cup in 2013.
Protests went on throughout and numerous clashes with police occurred during the successful tournament, which Brazil won.
Blatter said if any protests do occur in 2014, they won’t be anything to do with the football.
“It is a religion in Brazil.”
The latest comments from the 77-year-old will likely cause more controversy in Brazil.
