The inevitable speculation surrounding the future of David Luiz has begun in earnest with the official opening of the January transfer window and Bayern Munich top the list of potential suitors.

The 26 year-old Chelsea player has long been linked with a move to Barcelona but it appears that the German club are prepared to launch a bid as well, according to reports in globoesporte.com.

Munich Head coach Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his side’s defensive options and are said to be willing to pay as much as €29 million to lure Luiz to the Allianz Arena ahead of this year’s World Cup.

Bayern already employ two Brazilian internationals in the guise of Dante and Rafinha, with the former in particular thought to be in with a strong chance of making the national squad in the Summer.
