2014 could not have started in a better way for the attacking midfielder Willian. In Chelsea’s first game of the year, the Brazilian not only scored but was also instrumental in his team’s 3-0 victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

“Starting the year well is always important. Starting with a win and a goal makes it even better. I want to score as many goals and create as many opportunities as I can to solidify my place in the team,” said the 25-year-old.

“2013 was a special year for me as I arrived at Chelsea and was also called up to the national squad again. I’m thankful. In 2014 I want to keep improving because I want to win titles with Chelsea. Moreover, and without a doubt, I want to be at the World Cup.”

Chelsea are now preparing to face Derby County in the FA Cup on Sunday before returning to league action when they take on Hull City at the KC Stadium on 11 January.

“The English league is very close, so we must stay focussed and avoid throwing any points away. We have another away game coming up and we have to win,” said the playmaker.
