Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro has suggested he expects to stay at the Belo Horizonte-based club.

The 24 year-old, who was signed from Coritiba earlier this year, has been strongly linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.

He had previously intimated that he would be interested in a move to the former, but has now seemingly backtracked and hopes for another successful campaign at Cruzeiro.

“There is a lot of speculation but for now I am just enjoying my vacations,” he told Globo Esporte. “I’ll present myself at Cruzeiro on 6 January to have a good pre-season and another great year at Cruzeiro.

“Football is very dynamic, I’ll do like I did this year, step by step. Everything is working out little by little, Cruzeiro have a great squad, everyone treats me well and I am very happy there.”

Everton Ribeiro scored seven goals and provided eleven assists in 35 appearances as Cruzeiro won the 2013 Brasileirão. His excellent performances saw him voted the league’s best player.
