Lazio President Claudio Lotito is hopeful a contract renewal can be agreed with Hernanes.

The midfielder’s current deal expires in 2015. Doubts surrounding his desire to stay have led to links with Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, but Lotito remains confident the Brazilian can be retained.

"Hernanes is a great player," he told Lazio News 24. "We have to keep hold of our best. That is the attitude of this club.

"We have a good relationship with the agent [Joseph Lee] and we want to try and find a solution that’s best for us and for the boy."

Lazio signed Hernanes from São Paulo for €11.1 million in August 2010. The 28 year-old, who has been capped 23 times by Brazil, has made 19 appearances this season, scoring three goals.
