Corinthians director Roberto de Andrade has denied that Alexandre Pato will be sold in January.

The 24 year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks.

Since returning to Brazil, Pato has enjoyed mixed success. In the Brasileirão, he scored nine goals in 30 appearances, which earned him a Seleção recall.

The former Milan player has, however, proven unpopular with the Corinthians faithful, who want him sold.

Reports have suggested Timão officials would be open to the idea, something de Andrade denies.

“We can negotiate about him, like any player,” he told O’Globo, as reported by Sky Sports. “But in order to have a negotiation, there must be clubs interested in signing him and Pato has so far not asked to leave.

“When we bought Pato, it was because it was an opportunity. He is a kid, still very young, and we don’t regret it.”

Corinthians signed Pato from Milan in January for €15 million.
