Everton Ribeiro is being touted as the next signing of David Moyes’s reign at Manchester United but the club has hit some stumbling blocks.

United has contact the Brazilian FA over the history of the player, Ribeiro hasn’t made an appearance for the Seleção in his career, but has some interesting club background.

Ribeiro is 60% owned by current club, Cruzeiro, but the player is owned 40% by a third party, Lancenet reports. Premier league rules state that if a club signs a player he must be fully owned.

Clubs have tried to find ways round this in the past, one major new story was the Carlos Tevez affair with West Ham United.

Manchester United are interested in the player, having sent a scout out to Brazil to watch the player at the weekend.

United could lodge an €8 million bid if the two clubs can agree on the third party ownership.
