Atlético Mineiro are negotiating a loan deal for Bernard as part of a possible transfer to Premier League side Arsenal.
After recent reports claiming that the Gunners have agreed a fee for the Brazilian, more claims have emerged that the Galo could look to keep the player until the end of the Brasileirão campaign.
Fox Sports Brasil’s Luciano Caheiro claims that a loan deal could be agreed with Bernard arriving in January 2014 rather than this summer.
The Brasileirão campaign ends in December, and the Galo would be challenging for the title after coming second last season.
However, Arsenal may be reluctant to agree to such a deal considering their need for attacking reinforcements.
According to L’Equipe, Bernard will be arriving in London on Thursday for a medical after playing his last game for the Galo in the Copa Libertadores final second leg against Olimpia.
