Napoli are to change their attention to Liverpool’s Pepe Reina if they fail to sign QPR goalkeeper Júlio César.

According to Football Italia, Napoli have given César 24 hours to decide on his future before moving onto other targets.

Roma are also thought to be tracking the goalkeeper but it was Napoli who stole a march on their competition and spoke to César.

César is available for transfer after QPR boss Harry Redknapp admitted earlier this summer that he could not keep the Brazilian at the club.

But negotiations have proven to be rocky, and Napoli are not confident of tying up a deal with the Brazilian’s representatives.

Rafael Benitez has earmarked Liverpool’s Pepe Reina who is reportedly looking to leave after the Reds recruited Simon Mignolet from Sunderland in June.

Reina had been expected to move to Barcelona but a deal looks off after Victor Valdes expressed his desire to stay for another season.
