Flamengo have revealed that they have enquired about the availability of Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo but were put off by the player’s wage demands.
Officials from the Rubro-Negro talked to the player’s representatives and could not compromise over the player’s salary.
Flamengo’s executive director, Paulo Pelaipe told Lancenet that he had tried to approach the Italian giants as well as the player.
“He is a player who is under contract with Juventus and is a supporter of Flamengo. But it is completely out of reach for us.
“And today, there are no negotiations with him. We had a contact with the player’s agent but with the figures requested by the player, we stopped negotiations.”
