Brazil’s national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed that Fluminense’s striker Fred will start against England.

Fred has been feeling pain in his ribs, leading to speculation that he might not play the friendly game at Maracanã.

Seleção’s Manager Scolari has, however, dismissed those rumors, he told reporters during the pre-game press conference: “I hope that Fred can play at least 45 minutes, so that we can experiment the team we think should start.

He will stand the pain”, added Scolari.

Fred has scored goals in Brazil’s last four games, he was top scorer in the Brazilian national league last year.

Leandro Damião from Internacional ist he other striker in the squad, his form has been less impressive at the national team, but he is likely to be given playing time against England.
