Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has claimed that he is uncertain whether a deal to sign Neymar from Santos is close to being agreed.

The Spanish champions have long been linked with a move for the Brazilian star, along with a host of top European clubs.

Santos recently revealed that the Camp Nou is Neymar’s preferred destination should he move this summer.

Vilanova claims he does not know how talks to sign the 21-year-old are progressing but admitted he would be a welcome addition to the squad.

He said: “I don’t know how the negotiations are going.

“They don’t have to inform me. I have known Neymar for two or three years.

“He’s a good player and everyone would like to add him to their squad.”

Barca director of football, Raul Sanllehi, reportedly flew to Brazil this week to open talks with Santos over a €30 million deal.
