Santos" goalkeeper Rafael is hopeful Scolari will call him up one day, as he shone in the penalties shootout against Palmeiras on Saturday.

The goalkeeper saved the Kléber"s and Leandro penalties, helping Santos advance to the semifinals of the São Paulo State League.

Rafael talked about his national team hopes: “The manager has been calling up Júlio César, who is a great goalkeeper. We have many other good goalkeepers. Brazil is well served for goalkeepers, and have to give someone a sequence of games, as they have done with Júlio [César]."

“But of course I still dream of getting called up. I will work with humility, quiet, to return to the national team."

He regrets having missed the opportunity to start during the Olympics last year, he said: “I had an injury and the manager opted to not call me up again."

Despite that, Rafael praised former Brazil manager Mano Menezes, he said: “I know it"s hard, goalkeeper is a position of trust. Mano [Menezes] trusted me, supported me and helped me a lot. I was young enough to be in London."

“After the Olympic Games the manager called up again those he thought were the best ones. But I only have to thank him, he was the guy that gave me my first chance at the national team, I will never forget that."
