Former World Player of the Year Ronaldo regrets not being able to play the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ronaldo played in the 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups, winning two titles, although he did not play any game in 1994.

He is currently visiting Italy as a member of the Local Organizing Committee, the 36-year old former players blames his injuries for missing this opportunity.

Ronaldo said: “I would like to have a big role at the national team in the World Cup in my own country, but I came too late and unfortunately the injuries didn’t allow me.”

The  former Corinthians and Barcelona star also talked about to ‘Tuttosport’ about the Confederations Cup, he said: “It will be a good warm up competition for the World Cup as it includes teams like Brazil, Italy, Uruguay and Spain. There will be 12 World Cup titles on the pitch, it will be a great tournament.”
