Brazil drew 0-0 with arch-rivals Argentina in their last game in the final stage of the South American Championship.

The Juan Gilberto Funes stadium in San Luis was packed with 15,000 fans, unlike what happened in previous games.

The first minutes were dominated by Brazil, forcing Argentina to resort to counter-attacks to threaten the Seleção.

Argentina also resorted to hard tackling to stop Brazil’s players and both Boschilia and Kenedy were nearly injured. Iván Leczuk was carded for a foul on Coritiba’s left-back Abner.

Ibañez wasted a chance to open the scoring for Argentina just before half-time as Brazil’s goalkeeper Marcos made a save.

Robert nearly scored 1-0 for Brazil early in the second half after great individual play but Argentina’a goalkeeper Batalla saved it.

The game become more open and Brazil’s Abner and Argentina’s Driussi wasted goalscoring chances.

Ibañez attempted a powerful shot that was saved by Marcos, the Argentine player nearly scored a few minutes later with a header after Barzil’s goalkeeper failed to clear the ball.

Driussi hit the bar as Argentina kept dominating the game, although defender Moreyra was sent off a few minutes later for a reckless foul.

Brazil will face Peru on Wednesday while Argentina meet Paraguay.
