Wolfsburg midfielder Diego says he is flattered by reported interest from Atlético Madrid, where he spent last season on loan.

The Brazilian was close to leaving the German side last term but instead joined los Rojiblancos on a season-long loan, where he scored three times in 30 La Liga appearances.

Diego has become a key player for Wolfsburg this season, following the departure of Felix Magath in October, but is still happy to be linked with the La Liga outfit.

He told reporters: “If the rumours are true, that Atlético Madrid have an interest in me, it is always a pleasure to have a club like that looking at you.”

However, the midfielder insists he is fully-focused on the fortunes of his current club, who sit 13th in the Bundesliga table.

“We’re halfway through the tournament and I just want to think of my team, who continue to treat me very well,” he added.

Diego, whose contract at the Volkswagen Arena expires in June 2014, has made 21 league appearances and scored 6 goals so far this season.
