Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has taken the time to praise Carlo Ancelotti and has hailed the Italian coach’s role in his career.

The Brazilian defender worked with Ancelotti at AC Milan in the first six months of 2009, before the duo were re-united at PSG this summer.

Silva has expressed how important the first six months of his Rossoneri career were due to the former Chelsea boss’ influence.

He told beIN Sport: “I’ve worked with a lot of coaches in my career, but one man stands out, and that’s Mr Ancelotti.

“It wasn’t easy for me to find my feet when I first arrived in Europe. When I joined AC Milan I didn’t play for six months. But I was training under a great coach in Carlo Ancelotti.

“I can’t stress how important those six months were – they changed my life.”

Ancelotti left the San Siro by mutual consent in May 2009, after winning numerous titles, while Silva remained in Italy for three years before a €42 million move to the Parc des Princes.

The centre-back has made 16 league appearances for PSG so far this season, helping them to open a four point lead at the summit of the Ligue 1 table.
