Cruzeiro attacking midfielder Lucca has revealed that he is back in training and working on his fitness ahead of a return from surgery on his left knee.
Lucca, 23, was one of the stars of Criciúma’s successful Série B campaign in 2012 and earned himself a move to Belo Horizonte giant Cruzeiro. He is yet to appear for the club, though, following damage suffered to knee ligaments towards the end of last season.
With the expectancy rising, Lucca revealed that he should be back in full training soon and believes that he will be able to make a positive impact in Brazil’s top-flight.
“I am well. I am a bit anxious but it’s normal. I have worked hard to come back but the most difficult phase is now over,” he told Globo Esporte. “Now I am working on fitness, running around the pitch. I hope to be back soon and to help Cruzeiro a lot.
“I don’t think I’ll have any problems with the tactics (4-2-3-1) because we played like this at Criciúma. It’s normal to have competition. A big team like Cruzeiro will always have quality players. I will work hard to find my space because I know my potential.”
