A last-gasp goal from Gabriel Penalba gave Argentines Tigre a 1-0 win over struggling Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores last night.

This will come as a disappointment to the Brazilians as they faced a ten-man Tigre side for the latter stages of the game and still conceded in the last minute.

The match proved to be a tightly fought contest with both sides conceding little ground in Buenos Aires.

With ten minutes to go, midifelder Vilson was sent off but Tigre rallied and in the fourth minute of injury time, a free-kick was given.

Botta whipped in the free-kick and after a divertion from Diego Perreira, Penalba bundled in the winner for Tigre.

The result complicates proceedings for Palmeiras as they are joined by fourth placed Tigre on three points, one point behind second placed Sporting Cristal of Peru.
