Palmeiras have announced the signing of former Nancy defender André Luiz on a deal until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old arrives at the club on a free transfer following eight years in Ligue 1 with Nancy, where he won the French League Cup in 2006.
Luiz previously represented Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro and believes his time in France has helped him to improve since leaving Brazil in 2005.
He told the club’s official website: “I had some great experiences in France. The time I was abroad has helped me a lot in my professional and personal growth.
“Today, I come back more experienced and I’m sure I can help Palmeiras during this year.”
The Brazilian will compete in Série B this season following the Verdão’s relegation from the top flight of Brazilian football last season.
