AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted that he is surprised by the spending power of Brazilian clubs.
The Rossoneri sold Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato to Corinthians for €15million during the January transfer window.
Galliani spent some time in Brazil for negotiations between the clubs and has expressed his shock at how the clubs there have changed into spending forces over the past few years.
He said: “When I was between Christmas and New Year in São Paulo for the sale of Pato, I realised how the market had changed.
“Before you would go there to buy, now you go to sell. The €7 million paid for Kaká [in 2003] wouldn"t go far now.
“Currently the nation that seems to produce most talent is Colombia."
Robinho also attracted interest and offers from a number of clubs in Brazil this January, however, the 29-year-old ended up remaining at the San Siro by choice.
“Robinho? He"s great at Milan, he does not want to go to Brazil. He wants to be here," Galliani added.
“Alternatively or as a family he wants to return to Santos. And they"re the only team in which he would like to go. But he is happy here as we are happy to have him with us."
