AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has insisted that Robinho would only leave the Rossoneri for former club Santos if he were to return to Brazil.

The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester City forward was close to a return to his native country during the January transfer window.

However, the move eventually fell through due to a number of problems, but Robinho is said to be satisfied with his situation at the San Siro, despite a lack of first-team opportunities.

“Robinho is feeling very good at Milan,” Galliani said to Domenica Sportiva.

“He turned down a number of Brazilian teams because Santos are the only option for him if he returns to Brazil.

“However, Santos did not reach an agreement with Milan and with the player for several reasons. And we are happy to have him with us.”

Robinho was believed to have attracted interest from Flamengo, Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro, as well as Santos.

The 29-year-old Brazilian, who has only started six games this season, has a contract with Milan until the summer of 2014.
