Brazilian striker Marcos gave Troyes the lead against Ligue 1 title contenders Marseille, but couldn’t prevent his side from conceding two late goals.

The relegation-threatened side were on top for large spells and took advantage of their period of domination in the 70th-minute.

Marcos dispossessed Nicolas Nkoulou before racing in on goal and firing past goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

However, the home side struck back nine minutes from time when Nkoulou’s header deflected off Florian Jarjat and wrong-footed Troyes goalkeeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien.

Just one minute later Marseille were ahead after substitute Modou Sougou found space inside the penalty area and set up Andre-Pierre Gignac to finish from close range.

Troyes remain bottom of the league and seven points adrift of safety following the defeat, which helped Marseille move within five points of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
