Lucas Leiva believes Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers has all the ingredients needed to return to Europe’s elite.
The midfielder says that Rodgers, who has been in charged for nine months, needs time to impose his methods and style of football in order to take them up the table.
“We can see what they have in mind, in terms of taking the club back to the top,” Lucas told BBC Sport.
“A lot of players came in and a lot of players left, so it’s not easy really. When you see the teams that fight at the top, they have players that play for many years for the club and they know each other.
“I think Brendan is trying to build a competitive squad and a good team for the future. I think it’s going to work and hopefully sooner rather than later.”
Liverpool are currently in eighth place, ten points off the Champions League places, and will visit Wigan Athletic this weekend in search of three points.
