Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has hailed Rafael’s form this season as ‘magnificent’ and claims the strike against QPR is the highlight of his year.
The Welsh winger spoke in the aftermath of the 2-0 win at Loftus Road and praised the Brazilian for his maturity.
“Rafael’s had an absolutely magnificent season,” Giggs said. He’s got three goals for us and he’s maturing all the time. He had a fantastic day.
“We knew it was going to be difficult. It is always hard here and now they are fighting for their lives. It is always tough.
“We dug in the first half. It wasn’t a great performance but Rafael’s was one of the best goals you are going to see.
“It was unbelievable. It gave us a cushion and in the second half we played a lot better.
“It was just one of those ‘wow’ moments when it went in the top corner. You knew as soon as he hit it that it was going in the top corner. It could be the goal of the season.
“He really deserved it because he has been brilliant all season. He has been consistent and that has just topped off a great season for him.
“He tries it in training. It is a typical Brazilian effort. It doesn’t always come off but when it does it is spectacular.”
