Lazio star Hernanes scored a late penalty to rescue a point for his side as they drew 2-2 with lowly Palermo.

The Biancocelesti could have went level on points with Serie A leader Juventus with a win, ahead of the Italian champions’ game with Udinese this evening.

Despite taking the lead through an excellent first-half Sergio Floccari looping header, Palermo soon came back in the second half.

Two goals in two minutes saw Arevalo equalise before Paulo Dybala completed the turnaround for the visitors, who remain in nineteenth place.

With the game entering its final stages it looked as though the relegation strugglers might be able to hold on until Floccari won a penalty after being brought down by a reckless Ezequiel Munoz challenge.

Brazilian midfielder Hernanes stepped up to take the spot-kick in the 84th-minute and buried the ball to Samir Ujkani’s left, despite the goalkeeper guessing the right angle.

Next up for Lazio is a trip to Scudetto rivals Juventus for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.
