Real Madrid defender Marcelo is back in training following almost three months out of action with a broken foot.

The Brazilian full-back fractured his fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot while on international duty with the Seleção in October.

Marcelo underwent an operation in Amsterdam in preparation for his comeback and is now ready to rejoin his side ahead of their Copa del Rey second leg against Celta Vigo on January 9 at Santiago Bernabeu.

José Mourinho’s men trail 2-1 from the clash in the Balaidos Stadium last month after Cristiano Ronaldo gave the visitors a lifeline.

Marcelo’s return will be welcomed by Mourinho, as the Portuguese coach is still without a left-back with Fabio Coentrao sidelined

The 24-year-old has appeared six times in La Liga this season, as the los Blancos sit third in the table, 16 points behind table-toppers Barcelona.
