Tigre defender Lucas Orban has spoken out about the incidents that led to the Copa Sudamericana final second-leg being abandoned at half-time on Wednesday night.

Orban, who was seen to have elbowed departing São Paulo star Lucas Moura in the first-half, reports that the team returned to the changing rooms at half-time to discover security guards waiting for them, after a first-half that had ended in violence.

“The security guards were waiting here to kill us,” he told Fox Sports. “The hit people with sticks, benches, everything.”

The defender also attempted to play down the incident with Lucas Moura, insisting: “Lucas told me ‘you’re crazy’, but I didn’t respond. It was part of the game and the referee didn’t even signal a foul. It’s in the game and it stays there. For it to come to all this is too much.”

South American footballing administrators CONMEBOL are said to be looking into the incident which was a continuation of general ill-feeling between the sides over the two legs.
